SOCIAL CAPITAL MEETS SALES STRATEGY
For a business, a go-to-market strategy connects an offer with the people who need it. For your job search, that means knowing what you bring, finding employers who need those skills, and building trust through relevant conversations and follow-through.
You’ll practice the methods used by business development and sales development representatives—BDRs and SDRs—in your own search. Many re:WORK participants pursue sales roles; the research, communication, and relationship skills also transfer to other careers.
Know your value. Find your people. Follow through.
A VOICE FROM THE RE:WORK COMMUNITY
After being laid off, Nevonce Mingo came to re:WORK while pursuing a move into tech sales. He describes a community where people helped one another—even while searching for their own next role.
“Everyone was willing to help.”

Nevonce describes his experience with an earlier re:WORK program. His story is an individual experience; jobs, referrals, and timelines are not guaranteed.

My name is Nevonce Mingo, and I'm based out of Jersey City, New Jersey. Before re:WORK, I was laid off from my previous job that I've been with for about two and a half years. So that's what made me transition into tech sales. I was already interested in the industry.
If I had to say one thing that was very unique about re:WORK TRAINING, I would say all honesty was the culture. Everyone was willing to help, and that was even some of the candidates that was looking to get a job themselves. Everyone was just one unit.
I would say to somebody that's on the fence of joining re:WORK, why not? You want a job, and you want to break into the tech sales industry and have that career, come get this work. And that's exactly what I did, and that's where I'm at now, in my position. I'm very grateful.
This is a good cause. This is a good tool, and this is creating a lot of careers for people. Can't thank re:WORK TRAINING enough. So regardless of who you are, come get this work.

Yes. The Go To Market Career Academy and MissionXP’s Jobseeker workspace are free to use. re:WORK TRAINING is a nonprofit supported by donors and partners. There is no tuition charge for the self-paced Academy.
Yes. You can use this free career training while you look for work. You do not need a degree or previous sales experience. Bring your real experience, a willingness to practice, and time to follow through.
This is re:WORK’s nonprofit career-training program. Enrollment does not establish eligibility for unemployment benefits or government-funded training, and we do not claim it meets your state’s work-search requirements. If you receive benefits, check with your state agency before counting Academy work toward those requirements. Find government job-training resources at USA.gov.
You set your own schedule. The 61 videos total approximately six and a half hours, but that is only the viewing time. Research, writing, missions, revisions, outreach, and activity checkpoints require additional time. The self-paced course does not have a fixed eight-week completion promise.
Internet access, a MissionXP account, a LinkedIn profile, and a device that can play videos, take screenshots, record a spoken response, and export a résumé as a PDF. A computer is useful for writing and organizing your work. Review the syllabus for the full requirements.
Sales and business development provide the foundation, and many participants pursue BDR or SDR roles. You’ll also practice transferable skills for researching employers, explaining your experience, building relationships, and following through in other career paths. The Academy does not replace technical qualifications or licenses a particular role requires.
Those outcomes are not guaranteed. Self-paced learners receive community support and mission feedback. You remain responsible for completing the work, pursuing suitable opportunities, and building relationships. Hiring decisions belong to employers.
Yes. re:WORK is based in Chicago and serves jobseekers across the U.S. The self-paced Academy is online, so there is no commute to a classroom. Explore our Chicago job-training guide for the local overview.
