How re:WORK connects sales practice and social capital
Updated September 2026. This article revisits our 2025 description of the training model with current language and program status.
re:WORK TRAINING uses sales as a teaching method for career navigation. Researching a target employer, explaining value with evidence, starting a relevant conversation, and following through are skills that jobseekers can practice. The larger goal is access to the relationships and credibility that make opportunity easier to navigate.
Skills become visible through practice
The Go To Market Career Academy organizes ten connected skills, from personal positioning and employer research through outreach, conversations, pipeline management, and closing. Candidates work on real career tasks rather than relying on a résumé alone. A strong story should be supported by examples of work and behavior.
Relationships are part of the model
Volunteers and professional contacts can offer perspective, feedback, and introductions when appropriate. We call this social capital: trusted relationships built over time. It is not a promise of a referral or a substitute for hiring decisions.
MissionXP connects the work
MissionXP was created by re:WORK to help participants track jobs, contacts, activities, and progress. It makes the job search more teachable and easier to review. Activity data does not by itself prove an employment outcome; we distinguish use of the tool from validated results.
Current program status
The free self-paced Academy is available in MissionXP, alongside quarterly eight-week cohorts. Separately, the U.S. Department of Labor registered re:WORK’s Technical Sales Representative apprenticeship standards in May 2026 (Registration No. 2026-IL-141496). The full registered apprenticeship has not yet launched and has not produced apprentice outcomes. Read the current program status and evidence.
Put it into practice: Choose one target role, identify the people and evidence that matter, and record a specific next step.
