Our free Go To Market Career Academy teaches learners to approach a job search as a business of one. That includes researching opportunities, communicating their value, asking useful questions, and following through. MissionXP, the platform we built, supports learning and the activity behind that strategy.
Sales is a common career path for our participants. The larger purpose is career mobility: helping people recognize their abilities, demonstrate them, and build relationships that make their work more visible.
Watch: what a career change meant for Rodney
Read the video transcript
Rodney Cohns: “I am from a small town right outside of Chicago, Evanston. I’ve worked at Amazon for three months because I had to pay the bills. I had to keep things going.
“And I was working extremely—I was working extremely hard. I got children, I got bills, I need to get something going. I’m like, what do I gotta lose? Let me go ahead and give re:WORK a shot.
“Maybe about three weeks in, I didn’t even get maybe halfway, you know, through the program. I was offered a job at [company name unclear]. I’m making more money than I ever made. I’m in a better position. I just bought a house.
“Like, things are good. I’m able to put my [unclear] through college. Sales has changed my life. re:WORK has helped change my life.”
Visual description: Rodney speaks outdoors beside a table, with palms and the ocean behind him. Text cards introduce the story as an example of impact, invite support, and credit Salesforce, Zscaler, LinkedIn, HireVue, and Sprout Social for investing in opportunities. The video closes with “Be part of the change” and the re:WORK TRAINING logo.
Why skills and relationships belong together
A person can have ability without having a professional network that recognizes it. A useful connection also needs something to connect to: preparation, relevant skills, and evidence that someone can follow through.
Our social-capital approach brings those pieces together. Learners work on what they can demonstrate while practicing how to begin and sustain professional conversations. Volunteers contribute perspective, feedback, and opportunities to practice. Relationships grow through repeated, useful interactions.
One Academy, two ways to participate
You can start the Go To Market Career Academy at your own pace in MissionXP with support from the community. You can also express interest in a re:WORK cohort, which starts once per quarter and follows an eight-week format. The team confirms cohort timing and placement.
These are two ways to participate in the same offering. A committed self-paced learner may be considered for a cohort; moving into one is not automatic. The Academy page explains the options and the current intake process.
Training is free for learners. It requires participation, practice, and follow-through. Employment outcomes depend on many factors and are not guaranteed.
A strategy you can use beyond a first job
Research, discovery, storytelling, and relationship-building can be useful during a career change, an internal move, or a future job search. Learning why those actions matter gives someone a process to return to when circumstances change.
Many graduates pursue BDR and SDR roles. People can also apply transferable skills in other fields. Those skills complement the experience and technical qualifications a particular role requires.
Rodney’s story makes the purpose personal. His account is about paying bills, supporting his children, and finding greater stability. Better income matters because of what it can make possible in someone’s life.
A community that can keep giving back
Participants are part of a wider network of professionals, alumni, volunteers, donors, and partners. Someone who receives support today may later offer a practice conversation, share experience, mentor a learner, or contribute funding.
That creates the possibility of a growing circle of support. It is an invitation to contribute when someone is ready, not an obligation attached to receiving help.
For the organization’s documented results and the limits of those records, visit Innovation & Evidence. Individual stories add context; they do not replace the broader evidence.
